  • COMMITTED TO COME UNTO HIM

    MATTHEW 11:28-29

    (28) Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (29) Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souIs.

    1. Come unto me: Believe in Christ but also have a relationship with him.

    2. All that labor and are heavy laden: He doesn't talk about work as in a job but how it is work just to try and get through a day without sinning;  we labor against sin and we are weighed down by it .

    3. And I will give you rest: He's not talking about he's going to put you to bed and tuck you in kind of rest, but he will give you life! Rest as in the opposite of tired or exhausted. ..vitality and energy.

    4. Take my yoke upon you:  Here the word “yoke” means servitude. He's asking you to be his servant. Not because you have too, but because you want rest, you genuinely want to know Him more. It means giving total control to Christ. Let Him guide you.

    5. And learn of me: Read your bible; talk to Him as a friend; go to church, and share his teachings with those that don't know Him. (Read II Timothy 2:15)

    6. For I am meek and lowly in heart:  This is to say that He wants to teach us to be meek and lowly. “Meek” means remaining calm and patient in every area of our life no matter what struggles may arise. “Lowly in heart” just means we're always thinking of God and others before we think of ourselves.

    7. And you will find rest unto your souls:  “Find” means you don't have to look ever again to find rest, peace, joy and happiness. “Unto your soul” means how you’re going to feel inside and out. You're going to feel alive and energized…happier than you've ever been before.

Jesus is calling you….you the believer, the one already saved. Jesus isn't saying do this or don't do that, but only to "come unto me"'. It is the only way to live a more abundant life. A life more fulfilled. We need to stop trying to be a Christian and just have an intimate relationship with Jesus. Stop trying to be religious and learn about Christ. It's not about religion but about Jesus. Take His Yoke upon you. Relinquish your control to him. Truly surrender all. You have to come to Him before you can do anything. Jesus isn't asking you to be a Sunday school teacher, Deacon, Preacher--He asked you to come to Him. The emptiest lives are those that say they serve but never have come to Christ….never had that relationship. Is the ministry bringing you down?

Does it feel like a burden? STOP!! The most important thing Jesus wants from you is that undying relationship. When you have that, your servitude is going to be the sweetest it has ever been. It’s going to lift you up; your spirit will truly soar.

    Lord,

I expected you in my life a long time ago but I’ve never fully come to you. I lack that intimacy you so desire. I want to know you more. I want that relationship with you. I want that true peace and joy in my life. I surrender my life to you and your will. Thank you, Jesus. It’s in your name I pray, amen. Committed.
